Kingdom At War v1.0 by Michael J. Howe July, 1988
This program requires 1 meg of memory, sorry 512k people.
Before running this program you will need to:
COPY FORlibs/future.library TO libs: (On your Workbench 1.2 disk)
This program is Public Domain "freeware".
KAW is a five player game. The object is to control 3 Home Castles
and 19 territories. A player is removed from the game when his
Home Castle is captured by another player. The computer will play
any and all players. All game interaction is thru the mouse. During
a all-computer played game you may stop the action by clicking within
2 seconds of seeing the Continue/Save/Quit window.
When you move your Leader into a opponents territory you will lose
your remaining Leader points and will be the Attacker during combat
with the units assigned to your Leader Force.
There are two types of combat: Quick and Regular.
Only Human Vs. Human may use Regular combat. In Computer Vs. Computer
combat no clicking is required. No more then 400 points of any unit
type may be used in combat. Excess points are converted to gold points
and returned to your War Chest.
When attacking a castle each 50 points of the correct unit type will
result in one catapult unit, max. 8. Each catapult will cause 0-2 points
of damage to a gate, tower or wall per combat round. A attack will last
until one of the following things happen:
1. All defending units are destroyed
2. A attacking unit moves onto the War Chest (Defender must Retreat)
3. The Leader unit of the defenders is destroyed (if present)
4. The defending player Retreats
5. All attacking units are destroyed
6. The end of the 24th combat round (Attacker must Retreat)
7. The Leader unit of the attackers is destroyed
8. The attacking player Retreats
If 3. or 7. happen, then that player is removed from the game.
A player may not retreat if defending his Home Castle. Retreating units
suffer a 50% loss and return to their Home Castle. Territories will have
their resources reduced upon capture. Territories will recover 1
resource point per turn. Castle repair is a all or nothing affair.
Gates, Towers and Walls reduced to 0 points are considered to be
Rough terrain. In regular combat a unit may not enter a Gate, Tower
or Wall square from the left. The colored boxes surrounding units in
regular combat have the following meaning:
yellow - unit you have accessed
white - has never been accessed
orange - has movement points remaining
red - no movement points left
Units attacking in regular combat will suffer a counter-attack from
the defending unit with no terrain benefits. Bow units never suffer
counter-attacks. Horse units never receive terrain benefits. Units
attacked from the rear are considered to be Flanked and will have
their defense lowered.
Below is a unit/info grid.

carry 50 points of units each (Guard unit does not count). The Rough%
and Woods% represent the percent chance that a given regular combat
square will be of that type. Clicking on a non-unit square in regular
combat will display the terrain type and info.
Watch out for Random Events !
Special Thanks to Bruce Howe and Steve Jensen.
Enjoy!!
